Day 86: For the Love.

My phrase of choice when frustrated, flabbergasted, or utterly speechless is, generally, "For the love."

I don't know who I have to thank for this phrase, since I can't recall exactly where or when I picked it up, but it is useful in a multitude of situations. For example:

1. 5 two year old boys, for two hours. For the love.
2. Passing up that pot of chocolate fondue, the grilled cheese sandwich, and the pot roast and still gaining weight. For the love.
3. Tripping over the cat in the dark. For the love.
4. Accidentally dropping the pizza facedown on the floor. For the love.
5. Having my two year old pull my skirt off at church in front of all the teenage boys. For the love.

So, does anyone else out there have a "catch all" phrase??? I could use a new one.

Mine is down right geeky, but my grandfather said it, and my dad said it, and now I do too. Just the other day little Natalie found a broken crayon and called out:

"Oh good grief!" I love it.

Shane actually likes to use "garbage", thanks to his Idaho-farmer father.

I would like "snap" to be my mild curse, but mostly I use dang it, which is pretty cute to hear from my two-year-old's mouth until I realize what it's close to and where it came from. :)

You sound JUST like my friend, Carmen. She "for the love's" everything. When I read your post to her, she declared, "We could be friends."

Mine *was* "Oh, crap." And then I heard it constantly from my daughter. Haven't found a substitute I like better, so I adopted "for the love."

I say "for the love" a lot as well... but you probably already know that.

I use "for the love" often and I also say "seriously!?!" and "you've GOT to be kidding me" and "oh, that's just fabulous" those are just the mild ones!
huh... apparently, I am constantly frustrated and express it all the time. lovely (yeah, that's another catch-all phrase for me too)

"Have mercy." Like, "Have MERCY, that is a stinky diaper." Or, "Oh, have mercy, I cannot listen to that idiot politician for one more minute." You get the idea. It's a good southern expression to adopt since you're a transplant. You know, Elvis and all.
